Internship Opportunities with the Office of Rep. Matt Dowling My office and the Pennsylvania House of Representatives offer great internship programs aimed at cultivating and encouraging service to the community. Interns in my office will be tasked with helping constituents and will also work hands on with my staff to research policy and assist in the drafting of legislation. If you are interested in becoming a Legislative Intern and Constituent Outreach Specialist: Apply for an internship by submitting a copy of your resume to Amanda Cuteri at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are seeking academic credit provide a letter from your student advisor with your resume. Please specify the length of term as: Fall: September – December. Spring: February – May. Summer: May – August. Hours of Operation: Interns will be expected to work a minimum of 8 hours per week. The hours will be set to work with an intern’s academic schedule. Interns are expected to be on time and dressed appropriately for work. Depending on meetings and events, hours may include evenings and weekends. What are the Duties of an Intern: Assisting constituents in getting help from state agencies. Drafting letters on current issues and legislation to send to constituents. Public policy research. Drafting co-sponsorship memos as directed by staff. Daily office duty assistance. Event planning with office staff. Attending committee, budget or legislative meetings with staff members and the representative. Travel between district offices and other locations may be expected, please have a vehicle. Capitol Guest Page Program My office is currently accepting requests to be a guest page for a day in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Guest pages must be at least 12 years old and have an interest in state government. Guest pages serve on the House floor on session days and for only one day. Only eight guest pages are allowed on the floor each day. Requests to be a guest page are processed as received and should be submitted at least two weeks in advance of the date requested. Guest pages are introduced on the House floor and receive a certificate in recognition of their service.
