Dowling Headed to D.C. to Meet with Trump Administration
2/11/2019
HARRISBURG – Rep. Matt Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) released the following statement regarding his upcoming meeting with members of the Trump Administration:

“Next week I will be headed to Washington D.C. with Rep. Kathy Rapp (R-Crawford/Forest/Warren), chairwoman of House Health Committee, and Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne), along with Kristina Rasmussen, vice president of federal affairs, Foundation for Government Accountability; Robin Walker, director of federal Affairs, Foundation for Government Accountability; Shannon Alford, government affairs director (State), Foundation for Government Accountability; and Jeremy Baker, senior government affairs associate, Commonwealth Foundation, to meet with key members of the Trump administration to talk about welfare reform in Pennsylvania, specifically establishing work and community engagement requirements for able-bodied Medical Assistance recipients.

“Last session, I introduced legislation, formerly House Bill 2138, that would establish these conditions,” said Dowling. “Unfortunately, my bill was vetoed by Gov. Tom Wolf even though it included many of exemptions to ensure only those who were fully capable of working would have to abide by these requirements.

“I look forward to the opportunity to talk with Trump administration officials about this important issue so we can work together to promote and encourage those who depend on Medical Assistance to make positive changes in order to gain back their independence and succeed in the future.”
