WHAT: State legislators will detail and answer questions about a bill that would eliminate the ability for all candidates for public office to cross-file their nomination petitions. Currently, the Pennsylvania Election Code of 1937 allows candidates seeking to run for school board, county court of Common Pleas and district judges to file nomination petitions for multiple political parties that have become hyper partisan.

HARRISBURG – Today, the House Judiciary Committee approved two bills drafted by Rep. Matthew Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) to preserve the rights of Pennsylvania’s law-abiding citizens. The first would protect Second Amendment rights during emergencies, and the second would permit possession of a taser without device instructions.
UNIONTOWN – To enhance an existing walking trail in the Fayette Business Park in Georges Township, Rep. Matthew Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) advocated for a $168,807 grant that was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) today. The planned improvements to the existing walking trail will increase public safety by removing pedestrians from the busy roads throughout the industrial park.
