– Rep. Matt Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) announced that the Fayette County Career and Technical Institute was awarded altogether $32,048 in state grants from the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).
With the help of these grants, the Fayette County Career and Technical Institute will be able to purchase necessary equipment for its heating, air conditioning and refrigeration and automotive mechanics technology programs.
“The interest in and need for technical and vocational institutions has vastly increased over the past several years as more students have chosen to take this educational path,” said Dowling. “These grants serve as proof that the state values the importance of career and technical education and is willing to invest funds to make it possible for these institutions to meet the needs of both its students and instructors.”
A total of $1.2 million in competitive grants from PDE was awarded to 38 career and technical centers and area vocational technical education schools across the state for the purchase of new equipment aligned to training students in high-demand occupations.
