UNIONTOWN – Rep. Matthew Dowling (R-Fayette/Somerset) offered the following comments regarding Thursday’s groundbreaking ceremony for the new Fayette County prison.
“It is great to see the county finally breaking ground on this project. We have long needed a new prison, with the current one well over a century old. A new facility is vital to the health and safety of both prison employees and inmates.
“The road to this point has been challenging, but our county leaders persevered to get us where we are today. I would like to thank county Commissioners Dave Lohr, Scott Dunn and Vincent Vicites for all of their hard work and determination to bring this project to fruition.”
